Our technology-led solutions have been adapted for different client needs and market dynamics:

Balancing Risk Management

We develop solutions for developers, generators, aggregators and utilities in all major European markets and Japan for the sale of electricity, and management and optimisation of the imbalance risks associated with intermittent renewable production.

Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Market Access

We can purchase physical or financial power on a pay-as-produced basis. This solution provides a fixed revenue for each MWh you generate, giving you a consistent revenue stream for the duration of the contract length.

We will also provide a full-scope route-to-market and market representation service to ensure you will not need to deal with the complexities and volatility of the short-term power markets.

Flexibility Marketing

To help our clients access additional revenue streams and maximise the value of their assets, we utilise our virtual power plant called Gridfuse. Gridfuse provides advanced connectivity and control functionalities for our power offtake products while also enabling access to the ancillary services market. It provides real-time monitoring of production and asset management, while ensuring complete compliance with grid regulations and seamless integration with Engelhart’s trading platform.

Battery Energy Storage Systems and other Flexible Generation

Engelhart’s portfolio of intermittent generation and the associated trading, modelling and forecasting capabilities make our platform a natural home for flexibility.

Our systems are capable of optimising flexible assets across all applicable markets and we work with asset owners and developers in our markets to help maximise the returns on their investments.

Engelhart’s platform enables us to offer flexible solutions that can be customised to suit our customers’ requirements with a range of products including pure financial flexibility swap structures, shared value optimisation and short or medium term tolling arrangements.

Direct Marketing

If you own a wind or solar farm and are in search of a professional and experienced direct marketing partner, Engelhart is here to assist you. As a well-established direct marketer in Germany, we offer comprehensive support through all the processes and system integrations required for your plants.

Utilising our in-house meteorological analysis, sophisticated forecasting models, and our 24/7 trading desk, we are dedicated to maximising the value of your renewable assets through the market premium model. Additionally, we provide a range of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), including fixed-price PPAs, spot-only PPAs, and other customised PPA solutions.

Moreover, we can enhance your revenue opportunities by facilitating your participation in the Ancillary Services markets through our proprietary virtual power plant platform (VPP), Gridfuse.

Our solutions help to manage the inherent issue of intermittency and facilitate the growth of renewable power generation.

In the EU and Japan, power generators need a balancing responsible party (‘BRP’) who is required to report their forecasted power output to the grid operators.

The BRPs are responsible for balancing discrepancies between forecasted power output and actual production.

Engelhart currently acts as the BRP for clients right across Europe and Japan.

Power is sold based on forecast generation.

Power is traded to match revised forecasts.

Power is generated; deviations between forecast and actual generation occur.

Imbalance costs are incurred based on deviations.

“We had some fairly important criteria for our balancing responsible party, and Engelhart ticked every box. We were looking for a long-term trusted partner, deep market understanding, but also the confidence to know that our interests were truly aligned. Engelhart’s independence and sole focus on being a service provider without any generation assets meant that we knew that there would not be any conflicts of interest. They also have the ability to remotely control our assets which is a major factor in maximising the value of our power.”

We’re at a really interesting point in time in the power markets right now. If we take the example of Germany, we’ve produced more than half of our electricity this year with renewable energy. And that’s fantastic news.
